SteriTouch develops polyurethane to combat cross contamination

SteriTouch, an antimicrobial technology specialist established in 2003, has developed a clear polyurethane cover for keyboards to help prevent contamination risks in dentist’s clinics.

The covers are manufactured using a highly resilient PU film, which is able to withstand harsh cleaning and disinfecting chemicals, including detergents, alcohol and chlorine solution.

The film incorporates SteriTouch antimicrobial masterbatch to ensure continuous antimicrobial protection. The PU film, manufactured by a vacuum-forming process, uses a mould made directly from a sample of the keyboard.

Based on ionic silver technology, SteriTouch is effective against a broad range of harmful organisms, including MRSA, E. Coli, Pseudomonas and Salmonella. SteriTouch is incorporated into the film at the point of extrusion to provide long lasting antimicrobial properties.
